Flower of the month: Campanula

Each month I highlight a different flower and how it can be used in floral design. This month’s flower is campanula.

Campanula, ‘Blue waterfall’

Also known as bellflower, campanula has beautiful bell-shaped flowers that last over a week in a vase. This variety is known as “Blue waterfall.” I love the periwinkle stars that show up in my garden every spring.

Normally, I would use the flower of the month in a mixed bouquet, but I actually love this bellflower by itself, especially with the blue bottle vase. It makes a statement and allows the graceful arching of the stems to be the focal point instead of letting them be lost in a larger bouquet.
